As their year of small-batch bourbon releases comes to an end, Ghost Coast Distillery is ready to unveil their fourth, and final two-year small-batch bourbon. After the final release, the remaining barrels from each of the four releases will be blended together, creating a three-year “master” bourbon blend consisting of corn, wheat, malted barley, rye, and oats, fermented with both a saison yeast and traditional whiskey yeast. The fourth release will arrive in early December 2019 and will be a wheat/saison Straight Bourbon Whiskey offering a smooth, soothing, and slightly sweet finish just in time for the Holidays.
The first of Ghost Coast’s four releases was a rye/saison Straight Bourbon Whiskey, making them the first distillery to use saison brewer’s yeast in bourbon. It was chosen not only for its resilience to Savannah’s extreme temperature changes but because it produces unique flavors of dried fruit and spice, adding depth and complexity to the bourbon. The Fourth Release is a wheat/saison combination, allowing the saison yeast to sing its own spicy song. Offering notes of crisp apple, brown sugar, walnut, pepper and clove, the Fourth Release is perfectly balanced, easy-sipping, and hand-crafted with a cozy winter in mind.
Following the final release, the eagerly awaited three-year bourbon will be available in the spring of 2020. The blend will be a perfectly balanced combination of the best qualities from each of the four different bourbon mash bills. Ghost Coast has set aside the last remaining bottles (less than twenty bottles) of each of the four small-batch releases for sale at the distillery, giving you one last chance to taste each of the components independently before they are blended. WHERE TO FIND THE BOURBON
Only 75 cases will go out locally via Savannah Distributing Co., so you’ll be able to pick up a bottle (or two or three) at most local package stores by the end of November 2019. A limited supply will also be available at Ghost Coast Distillery, beginning December 7th at the Winter Bourbon Bash.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Ghost Coast is set to release a 36-month bourbon in April 2020 that will be made up of all four 2019 Bourbon Releases. Some of these four bourbons with distinct mash bills will be released on their own throughout 2019 in extremely small batches.
